Tennessee is heading into one of the most critical seasons in school history with the expansion of the SEC, and they look to takeover as the second team, with Alabama losing head coach Nick Saban

The SEC Is Adding Two Top Teams In 2024

The SEC, a college football powerhouse, is expanding this year, potentially adding the two best teams from Texas and Oklahoma. This move could significantly alter the competitive landscape, and Tennessee must ensure it stays in the game.

If the Volunteers want to take control of the SEC, they will have to do it without one of their players who looks to be heading into the portal.

Tennessee Will Lose A Top Player

According to Matt Zenitz from 247sports.com, defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins is expected to enter the transfer portal.

Jenkins was a three-star recruit from the class of 2022 and played in six games last season, recording only four tackles.

The Volunteers Are Losing Depth

It might not seem like a big deal that a player who hardly played is going into the portal, but injuries happen a lot in football, and having depth is very important. The top teams in the country have many guys at each position who can come in and play if someone goes down, and Tennessee will have to go into the portal and find some guys who can fill in as depth guys on the defensive line.
