Georgia WR Ladd McConkey visits with Atlanta Falcons ahead of 2024 NFL draft
Joshua L. Jones-USA TODAY NETWORK

Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Ladd McConkey may never end up leaving the state of Georgia after all.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports on Friday that the Atlanta Falcons are hosting the born and raised Chatsworth, Georgia native McConkey for a pre-draft visit.

Rapoport adds that the Falcons are just "one of 14 teams to do in-person work" on McConkey.

As Rapoport also noted, McConkey is considered a late first-round prospect or early Day 2 pick.

The Falcons are slated to draft at No. 8 overall in the upcoming draft, which is likely too high for McConkey to go off the board, but then they pick again at No. 43 in Round 2.

McConkey boosted his NFL draft stock through all three phases of the pre-draft process (Reese's Bowl, NFL Combine, Georgia Pro Day).

The 6-foot, 185-pound receiver ran an official 4.39-second 40-yard dash and 1.52-second 10-yard split at the combine and showed off his quickness even more at pro day with a 4.04 short shuttle and 6.72 three-cone time.

Even without those times, McConkey's four years with the Bulldogs alone makes him an intriguing prospect because he managed to rack up a solid career, despite being often overshadowed by Georgia's star tight end Brock Bowers,

In 29 career games at Georgia, McConkey reeled in 119 receptions for 1,687 receiving yards with 14 touchdowns.

When asked at pro day in March how he would feel about joining the Falcons, McConkey admitted that would be "pretty cool" because he knows he would have "a ton" of support.
