Blazers' Dalano Banton sets embarrassing record

Dalano Banton did a lot during Portland’s last game of the season. Very little of it was positive.

Banton set a record by missing all 15 of his three-point attempts in Portland’s 121-82 loss to the Sacramento Kings. He might have missed more, but he didn’t make it to the end of the game before getting tossed.

Banton missed 20 shots overall, but he did go 6-for-11 from two-point range. It’s still the worst long-range shooting performance in NBA history if not all of professional basketball.

His shooting was so bad that it lowered his season-long three-point percentage by nearly two full points, from 33.9 percent down to 32.1. The rest of the Blazers were only 7-for-30 from deep. Portland’s Kris Murray and his brother Keon from the Kings combined to shoot 3-for-14, but that pales in comparison to Banton’s brick-fest.

Banton got tossed after he and Sacramento’s Chris Duarte got double technicals after a minor dustup. Usually, referees call double technicals to calm down a situation. This time it didn’t work, with Banton immediately drilling Keon Ellis on the other end.

Two technicals. Five turnovers. Fifteen missed threes. A plus-minus of -38. The season couldn’t end soon enough for Banton and the Blazers.
