Tennessee Titans 2024 NFL Schedule: Release date, opponents, biggest games, and predictions
Denny Simmons / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Tennessee Titans' offseason is in full swing now that the NFL Draft and free agency are behind us. The next few months will be all about getting the team's 90-man roster in the best spot ahead of Week 1. But what can fans be looking forward to in the coming weeks and beyond?

The NFL's schedule release is just right around the corner! We already know the Titans' 2024 opponents, but we'll find out the when and where they play here very soon!

So, let's dive into the upcoming 2024 NFL schedule release, opponents, biggest games, predictions, and more!

Titans Schedule Release Date

The NFL teased during the draft that schedules will be released in May, but they still haven't given us the exact date. If we look back on the last couple of years of schedule releases it's usually just before the midpoint of May. In fact, it's been the second Thursday in May two years in a row now. If that holds true this year we can expect the NFL schedule release as early as May 9th!

Once that officially comes out, we will update this page here with the complete official Titans 2024 schedule.

Home and Away Opponents

Games played at Nissan Stadium: Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals

Away games: Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders

Biggest Games on the Titans 2024 Schedule

Every divisional game: The Texans, Jaguars, and Colts all three had winning records last year. Every single divisional win could be the difference between finishing first or fourth in the AFC South this season.

Titans at Chargers: The Chargers will look completely different this year with new head coach Jim Harbaugh. Despite them finishing 5-12 last season this could be a surprisingly tough away game that the Titans absolutely have to win if they want to make the playoffs in 2024.

Titans vs. Jets: A healthy Aaron Rodgers makes the Jets stacked roster immediately a playoff contender. This is another team who struggled last season, but the Titans must beat at home to secure a playoff spot. Facing off against the stacked AFC East and the Bengals with a healthy Joe Burrow this year doesn't leave much room for error against teams they "should" beat like the Jets.

Predicting Primetime Matchups and Week 1/Week 18 Opponents

Which games will be primetime viewing?

Between Thursday Night Football, the Black Friday game, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Sunday Night Football, and Monday Night Football there are plenty of opportunities for Titans primetime games this year. However, the Titans aren't quite often a nationally televised priority unless they're paired with larger market teams or bigger brands. Here are the most likely four games that could feature in a primetime slot:

  • Home vs. Cincinnati Bengals - Brian Callahan just joined the Titans from the Bengals. The last time the Titans played a playoff game it was a loss to Cincinnati. And of course, there will be Comeback Player of the Year buzz for Joe Burrow too. All that together could get the Titans' game into primetime.
  • Home vs. Green Bay Packers - The Packers are always a prime candidate to land a primetime slot. Their offense headed up by QB Jordan Love is going to be on national TV a lot this year.
  • First Game vs. Houston Texans - The Will Levis against C.J. Stroud matchup as sophomore quarterbacks looking to break out as NFL stars could be an early season priority that the NFL may try to exploit.
  • First Game vs Indianapolis Colts - This one combines elements of both the Bengals and Texans game. Anthony Richardson is returning from injury with immense intrigue given his small sample of success in 2023. Levis vs. Richardson as sophomore breakouts with cannon arms will get people to tune in too.

Who are the Week 1 and Week 18 opponents?

The NFL has scheduled a lower-mid tier NFC opponent to play the Titans in Week 1 three years in a row now. This year, the Titans play five intriguing NFC opponents. Three of them have brand new first round quarterbacks. The Commanders and first round quarterback Jayden Daniels aren't supposed to win many games, but that could be an exciting first game of the year.

Week 18 is almost always an AFC South opponent. It's been either the Jaguars or Texans for the last five years. It's likely the Colts' turn in 2024.

Strength of Schedule

Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis ranks strength of schedule for all 32 NFL teams every year based off of Vegas' projected win totals for all their opponents in the upcoming season. This makes more sense than simply combining win-loss record from the previous season because rosters are so drastically different year over year.

As of this writing, Sharp has the Titans' with the sixth most difficult schedule for the 2024 season. Only the Vikings, Ravens, Browns, Patriots, and Steelers have tougher schedules, as you can see in the image below.

Revenge Games on the Titans 2024 schedule

  • Calvin Ridley plays the Jaguars twice: Calvin Ridley will likely want to make sure the Jaguars miss him when they play the Titans twice this season. Expect a touchdown or two from Ridley that day.
  • Kenneth Murray and the Los Angeles Chargers: The Chargers let Murray walk via free agency despite him tallying over 320 tackles for them throughout his rookie contract. He be may be hitting his old teammates hard that day, making sure the Chargers know they made a mistake not bringing him back.
  • Denico Autry, Azeez Al-Shaair and the Houston Texans: The Titans let Denico Autry and Azeez Al-Shaair walk via free agency for some reason. Autry racked up nearly 30 sacks over the last three seasons. Al-Shaair just had his best career season with over 160 tackles for the Titans last year. They likely play a little bit harder against the Titans in both games.

5 Must-watch Matchups

  • L'Jarius Sneed vs. Justin Jefferson: L'Jarius Sneed allowed just two receptions for 14 total yards when he faced off against Justin Jefferson in coverage last year when he was still with the Kansas City Chiefs. This should be the premier WR/CB matchup of the week when they play.
  • JC Latham vs. Joey Bosa & Khalil Mack: Titans' new first round offensive tackle will have his hands full protecting Will Levis from Bosa and Mack, two of the best pass rushers in the NFL.
  • Will Levis vs. Ahmad Gardner and the Jets secondary: The Jets allowed just 5.5 yards per pass attempt last year and play incredibly well together. Levis needs to prove he can play well against the toughest secondaries in the league.
  • Titans secondary vs. C.J. Stroud and the Texans receivers: C.J. Stroud emerged last season as one of the best young quarterbacks in the game. Then the Texans added Stefon Diggs in the off-season, giving him an incredible trio to target. The Titans have the most expensive cornerback tandem in the NFL after signing both L'Jarius Sneed and Chidobe Awuzie to big deals. Limiting explosive plays will be crucial.
  • Brian Callahan vs. his former team the Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals know Callahan's offense well. Can he draw some new wrinkles to confuse his old team? It may only take one or two big plays from DeAndre Hopkins or Calvin Ridley to make the difference.
